On December 9-14, 37 teachers and students from Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) visited ZUST under the support of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education and Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

ZUST vice president Zheng Youqu received the delegation and held a welcoming ceremony. During the visit, Prof. Zheng Linxin, associate dean of the School of Design/School of Fashion, gave a lecture introducing the cultural industry in Hangzhou. The delegation participated in the "font design workshop" and exchanged works with the teachers and students in the School of Design/School of Fashion. They also visited the fashion exhibition hall and the fashion labs, and two cultural and creative enterprises around ZUST. In addition, a friendship party was held together with teachers and students from ZUST.

Through the visit, the Hongkong students gained more understanding on the current situation, history and culture of their mother land. The visit also helped to promote the professional exchange, mutual understanding and friendship among the students of the two institutions.

HKDI, established in 2007 by the Professional Training Council of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region government, is a college to train creative talents. There are four departments in design: Department of Basic Design, Department of Communication Design and Digital Media, Department of Fashion and Image Design, and Department of Product and Interior Design.
